LGBT Friendly Hotel Review: Frederick Inn Bed & Breakfast in Frederick Maryland

The Frederick Inn is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast located in Buckeystown, Maryland about 5 miles outside of Frederick. In desperate need of a change of pace from the Washington, DC hustle and bustle this B&B was a perfect spot for us to recharge.

An 1897 Colonial Revival Mansion has been completely remodeled with so much attention to detail. The original architectural features are clearly highlighted while still feeling homey and inviting. The gigantic porch is just the spot for a drink and reconnecting with loved ones. We spent our evening wandering the yard, smelling flowers and discovering a hidden 1800’s cemetery. As well as reading about the historical background of the land.

Breakfast

All rooms come with breakfast, I’m not talking some muffins and cold eggs. This is a full home cooked meal.  It is clear the Innkeepers Pat and Kirk mean business when they talk breakfast. In the bright and airy dining area, we enjoyed an incredible meal while keeping our eye out for the resident hummingbird. Breakfast included a muffin, fruit and yogurt parfait, a family recipe quiche and enough coffee to get Meg moving. While the breakfast was delicious we may have enjoyed our conversation with Pat and Kirk even more. Travel has given us so many opportunities to connect with people different than us. Listening to their stories of the remodel, big career changes and connecting with their new community has had a lasting impact on us. We could not have felt more welcomed into their home.

Rooms

They have 5 main guest suite on the second floor and 4 rooms on the 3rd floor. The main guest suites all have their own touch so that you can select the room best for you. With options for a private balcony, big seating areas and decorative seating areas. Each room is tastefully decorated with comfortable mattresses, soft towels and even softer robes (we’re obsessed with hotel robes). We spent the entire evening sitting on the balcony watching a thunderstorm and enjoying eachother.

Location

Centrally located within an hours drive of Washington DC, Baltimore MD, Gettysburg PA, Antietam MD, Leesburg VA, or Harpers Ferry WV. Buckeystown is 5 miles outside of Frederick. Downtown Frederick is filled with shops and great restaurants for a day’s worth of browsing. You are also close enough to spend a day hiking the trails at Sugarloaf Mountain or visiting nearby State Parks.

LGBT Friendly

We have shied away from staying at B&B’s in the past for fear of how we would be perceived as a young LGBT couple. Our experience here could not have been more comfortable. From beginning to end the Pat and Kirk were incredibly welcoming.
