Circa 39 in Miami Beach is a beautiful (and well-branded) intimate boutique hotel. I was stoked when I heard they were interested in sponsoring my stay. We landed at Circa 39 for the last day of our 10 day Miami visit and were blown away by the ambiance and attention to detail. To be honest, we spent most of our trip in South beach which was a bit loud and busy for our taste, Circa 39 was just far enough away in Mid Beach to provided the perfect calm after the storm.
Wunder Bar & Pool
Wunder Bar and pool area were the highlight of the stay for us. Wunder Bar is the cutest little tapas bar in the main lobby of Circa 39. It’s positioned right beside the pool and the perfect place to grab a cocktail and lounge when you get tired of the sand. The pool itself was a nice little oasis with trees surrounding to provide privacy from folks walking on the street. We spent a whole afternoon just lounging and enjoying the ridiculously delicious poolside appetizers from Jules Kitchen. We each had a Smashed Sangria ($14). It’s made with fresh blackberries, lemon and oranges muddled together, then shaken with aged white rum and sweet vermouth. When it arrived it was so cute and served with frozen grapes as ice. While the bar is a bit pricey, they do have great happy hour specials everyday from 4-6pm. It’s just $5 for their tapas style special bites, $6 for beer, $7 for wines and $8 WunderDrinks like the Smashed Sangria.
Jules Kitchen is hands down the cutest little hotel restaurant we’ve ever seen. We had appetizers by the pool and loved them so much that we tried Jules Kitchen again for dinner. The Carne Con Queso Egg Rolls ($12) were -melt in your mouth -delicious. We also loved the bulgogi beef gluten free street tacos ($10) and the mexican cobb salad ($11). The hotel offers a beautiful continental breakfast spread and an all day brunch menu.
The room was perfectly sized with a large queen sized bed and all the amenities you expect of a mid-range to luxury boutique hotel. The large glass shower with waterfall shower head was incredible after a long day of salt water and beach lounging. One of the more novel things about the room that I loved was the Aveda Institute shower products in Rosemary Mint. It was a weird thing for me to notice, but I loved the relaxing smell of them so much that I’m considering buying the full-size versions for everyday use. I also liked that there was full complimentary coffee and tea service. We had a really early flight out the next morning and it was great to have it on hand.
Circa 39 is located in Mid-Beach, which is a bit of a hike from South Beach. For us, the distance was a bonus. We like to enjoy a cocktail or two and love to hangout and have a good time, but we’re not really into the giant 48-ounce margarita scene anymore. South Beach was a bit too wild and a bit too loud for our tastes these days which made Mid Beach perfect for us. Circa 39 is directly across the street from the beach but far enough down the shore to be less of a party scene and more relaxing.
Miami Beach is the definition of LGBT friendly. We had a great time at Circa 39 without any of the staff or other guests batting an eyelash at us for being a clearly affectionate lesbian couple.
I received a sponsored stay in exchange for this honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.
